Shopping Terms and Conditions

These terms apply whenever you browse lookoutscreens.com.au or buy a Lookout Screen from us. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. They're written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, call us on 1300 216 221 (Mon–Fri, 9am–4pm) and we'll explain it.

Who we are

Lookout Screens is operated by RC Innovations Pty Ltd (ABN 90 154 463 546), trading as Lookout Screens and Look Out Portable Privacy Screens, of Level 6, 410 Queen St, Brisbane QLD 4000. The product

We sell one product: the Lookout Screen, a portable, retractable outdoor privacy screen that clamps to balcony railings, deck balustrades and glass pool fencing using our patented universal clamp (Australian Patent No. 201727963). It comes in one size (1.8 metres high, extending up to 3 metres wide) and one colour (Mid-Grey).

We do our best to describe the product accurately, including exact dimensions, materials and the railing types it suits. Photos on the site show real installations, but colours can display differently between screens and devices.

Pricing and payment

The price is $395 including GST, plus shipping calculated at checkout. All prices are in Australian dollars. We may change the price at any time, but a price change won't affect an order you've already placed and paid for.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Afterpay. Payment is processed securely through Shopify's checkout — we never see or store your full card details. If you pay with Afterpay, your agreement with Afterpay covers the instalment arrangement; these terms still cover the purchase itself.

Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy, which we accept when we confirm it by email. Very occasionally we may need to decline or cancel an order — for example, if the product is unavailable, there's an obvious pricing error, or we can't verify payment. If that happens, we'll tell you promptly and refund anything you've paid in full.

Shipping and delivery

We deliver Australia-wide. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout before you pay. Delivery timeframes shown at checkout are estimates — carriers occasionally run late for reasons outside our control, and we'll help you chase a delayed parcel, but we can't guarantee a specific delivery date.

Risk in the product passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes once payment has cleared in full.

Checking fit before you buy

The Lookout Screen fits horizontal top rails between 12mm and 140mm wide. It is not suitable for vertical posts, round poles or solid walls.

If you're not sure whether it will fit, use the “Will It Fit My Railing?” enquiry form before ordering — Bob personally checks every enquiry, usually within one business day. Fit advice we give is based on the information and photos you provide, so please make sure they're accurate. If you order without checking and the screen doesn't suit your railing, that's a change-of-mind situation, which isn't covered by our Refund Policy — the fit check exists so this never happens.

Body corporate and strata approval

If you live in an apartment, unit or townhouse, your body corporate or strata rules may govern what can be attached to or displayed on your balcony. The Lookout Screen attaches without bolts, screws or drilling and causes zero property damage, which satisfies most schemes — but approval is your responsibility. We recommend checking with your body corporate before ordering.

Safe use and installation

The screen must be assembled and installed following the assembly manual supplied with the product (also available for download on the site). First-time installation takes around 45 minutes. Used as directed, the clamp holds firmly without damaging your railing.

Please retract the screen in high winds and severe weather, check the clamps periodically, and don't use the screen as a barrier, safety device or fall protection — it's a privacy and shade screen, nothing more. We're not responsible for damage or injury caused by installation or use contrary to the manual.

Returns, refunds and faults

Our Refund Policy forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Intellectual property

The Lookout Screens name, logo, product design and website content belong to us. The universal clamp is protected by Australian Patent No. 201727963. You're welcome to share links to the site, but please don't copy, reproduce or commercially use our content, images or designs without written permission.

Website use

We work to keep the site accurate, secure and available, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. Product information may occasionally contain typographical errors, which we'll correct when found. Don't use the site for anything unlawful or attempt to interfere with its operation.

Our liability

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything not covered by a consumer guarantee is limited, at our choice, to replacing the product, resupplying it, or refunding what you paid for it. We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss — but again, only to the extent the law permits, and never in a way that cuts across your consumer guarantee rights.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information, and forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on the site when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of Queensland.
